dw20.exe

Need emergency help with dw20.exe process? [closed]

recently I have deployed asp.net application to production windows server 2008.

after 10-20 min, starts dw20.exe process (Microsoft.net error reporting shim), which takes almost all CPU available which cause to very slow response of my application.

No error no exception in Event Viewer.

I right clicked on the dw20.exe process and created the dump file to analyze what causing the issue.

Then I opened this file in WidDbg. run command .loadby sos mscorwks and get Unable to find module 'mscorwks'

It looks like I'm missing something or doing it wrong.

How to determine what cause an exception in application? how to analyze DMP file created?

Is it possible to stop this service?

dw20.exe: way to “reverse” dw20.exe hashes?

Our application has been throwing unhandled exceptions. DW20.exe logs these like this test case:

EventType clr20r3, P1 clr20r3.exe, P2 1.0.0.0, P3 4af175d6, P4 clr20r3, P5 1.0.0.0, P6 4af175d6, P7 1, P8 a, P9 system.applicationexception, P10 NIL.

P9 is the name of the exception. If the exception name is over 32 characters long, DW20.exe hashes the name (and presumably encodes the hash). For instance, the exception 'LongExceptionWithNameThatIsOver32' is logged as:

dw20.exe: ASP.NET Web App freezing on an exception, dw20.exe hanging at 100% CPU

Apologies for the open endedness of this question, but I really don't know what to say.

I've done something to my ASP.NET MVC Web Application to cause an exception which is probably occuring due to an NHibernate mapping error to cause dw20.exe to run at ~ 50% CPU usage (100% on one core). The browser doesn't respond until IIS times out, and the debugger never hits an exception, everything just freezes :s

Anyone got any ideas as to where to start with this?

dw20.exe: Prevent Windows Error Reporting (DW20.exe) window for a particular process

I have an automated build system set up on a Windows box, but one of the compiling tools randomly fail to work. The whole system works as a service, so it has no interaction with users. I detect the failure by looking at the DW20.exe process. The failed process waits for a user to click a button, so it stops the whole build system.

Can I prevent Windows Error Reporting from waiting for user actions for a particular process (or a particular Windows user)?

The box has Windows Server

dw20.exe: Deallocate memory from C# dictionary contained in a static object

I had some problems with a WCF web service (some dumps, memory leaks, etc.) and I run a profillng tool (ANTS Memory Profiles).

Just to find out that even with the processing over (I run a specific test and then stopped), Generation 2 is 25% of the memory for the web service. I tracked down this memory to find that I had a dictionary object full of (null, null) items, with -1 hash code.

The workflow of the web service implies that during specific processing items are added and then

dw20.exe: Visual Studio 2008 Express C++ 32 bit build on Windows 7 64 bit

I am using Visual Studio 2008 Express. I have a solution which used to work fine on Vista 32 bit. I recently switched over to Windows 7, and part of it stopped working. This is my setup:
- Unmanaged C++ static library, 'the library'
- Managed C++ DLL that wraps functionality of 'the library' for use in C#, 'the DLL'
- Managed C++ console application that references 'the DLL'
- C# application that references 'the DLL'

dw20.exe: How to handle IOException FileStream Read/Write Timeout and prevent C# application crash

I have a routine that writes a bunch of data to a file using a filestream; this routine is run after the users click 'Save' in a SaveFileDialog and they select a file location. There is validation as well to make sure the fileName is not empty etc.

This data is being written to a file location on a removable drive (SD card) and if I click the button and remove the SD card as quickly as possible (unlikely in practice but found this while stress testing my software) the code enters my catch

dw20.exe: What is the correct way for a program to terminate its own process (Windows)

C# .NET 3.5

I have a console application that is being called by another application on the computer. This console app runs continuously, and listens for data on stdin from the 'parent' process.

However, when the parent is stopped or killed, the console app that it started continues. Under normal circumstances, it sits and idles waiting for input from stdin, using minimal resources. However, as soon as the parent goes away, this console app spikes the CPU and starves the core

explorer.exe: How to profile Windows explorer.exe

What tool / technique would you recommend for Explorer.exe profiling?

Mainly on Windows XP / x86...

To avoid confusion it is not a system kind of question.
Imagine, you have developed a BHO or another shell extension and you have to profile it.

For now, I'm using AMD CodeAnalyst, but I'm looking for somethign better suiting for purpose.

Cheers,

update.exe: Suggestions for replacing the current exe

I need to do a quick and dirty way of upgrading my application.

Currently I have an exe per every release.

If exe is wrong i flash a message 'relase X found on db, you are using exe for release Y, please download the correct vetsion'.

I have every exe at a fixed addresss, like:
http://myip.com/exes/N/Project.exe (where N is the releease)

So my idea was instead of the message above i would prompt the user 'the correct exe will be downloaded, press ok to continue'.

-system process-: What is the preferred process for sellling a personal project/product? [closed]

I have begun work on a personal project that may end up having some real-world applicability. I am beginning to entertain the idea of selling licenses. I am sure some others here have done this before, and I was wondering what successfully processes you've used to do so.

There are many questions on SO regarding licensing, legal implications, etc. However, I have looked around and could not find a duplicate question for this one. To be clear, I am not looking for information on what licens

svchost.exe: ESET Firewall rules for svchost.exe and javaw.exe?

All firewall from ESET is good. You select the Interactive mode and you enjoy life. But here problem: custom rules are created only for specific executable files: firefox.exe, skype.exe, notepad++.exe. As a rule, one file is responsible for one application. More rare - several files are responsible for one application (Steam, for example). And with this firewall copes. But javaw.exe and svchost.exe can be responsible for several applications or services. How to create rules for specific services

notepad.exe: C# replacing protected System file ex “notepad.exe”

I have attempted to use the following function to give the current running code control over the file. But I cant get it to run without throwing an exception. I've searched the web and have still not been able to find an easy way to take ownership of a system file, rename it and put something back in its place. Running the 'application as ADMIN' Still doesn't seem to resolve anything. Any help would be appreciated.
