F12 not working in Delphi debugger on Windows 7/8

Pressing F12 while the program is running in the debugger should break the execution and open the debugger. This works correctly on Windows XP (tested with D2007 and XE2) but fails on Windows 7 and 8 (also tested with D2007 and XE2; tested on three computers).

Registry is set up properly (Windows 7):

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionAeDebug]
'UserDebuggerHotKey'=dword:00000000
'Debugger'=''C:Windowssystem32vsjitdebugger.exe' -p %ld -e %ld'

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionAeDebugAutoExclusionList]
'DWM.exe'=dword:00000001

The XP installation also sets 'Auto'='1' and omits the AutoExclusionList but duplicating those changes on the Windows 7 machine accomplishes nothing.

The weird thing is that Delphi seems to be aware of the F12 being pressed. When I run a program in a debugger on a Windows 7 machine and press F12, Event Log window in Delphi shows

Thread Start: Thread ID: 4080. Process Project73.exe (7108)

Thread Exit: Thread ID: 4080. Process Project73.exe (7108)

It's just that the breakpoint is not triggered and application keeps running.

Does anybody know how to restore this functionality in Windows 7/8?

Just curious, say, if I enumerate all processes running in a user's session, is there any way to tell which are Windows system processes (such as explorer.exe, taskhost.exe, dwm.exe, etc.) and which are processes started by a user?

dwm.exe: Lost Windows 7 transparency DWM not working properly

After installing new theme from Microsoft (http://windows.microsoft.com/hr-HR/windows/downloads/snowflakes-and-frost-theme) my Windows 7 lost all its transparency (Aero) effects and placed Windows Basic as the actual theme.
I've been googling for my problem for an hour now and I have not found any solutions.
All my attempts to fix this issue have failed.

I've tried running the standard wizard for for fixing transparency problems and I got a response:

dwm.exe: Completely locking down Windows 7 using Python 3.2?

This might be a more difficult question since I don't even know how to do it outside of Python...

I want to write a terminal program that completely locks up my PC until a password is entered. In the locked state no one should be able to do anything outside the terminal. In it, the user may rampage and write silly commands, but he should not be able to switch windows, click outside of it, open the task manager, open the menu with Ctrl + Alt Gr + Del and so on.

dwm.exe: BitmapCache causes WPF application to lock up

Here's the scenario:

1: Our WPF application starts

2: The WPF application loads various user controls, including some that use the new BitmapCache feature in WPF 4

3: Hit ctrl-alt-delete or win+l or load another application which requires UAC

4: Cancel that stuff

The WPF application is now unresponsive, however it's WPF itself which is the problem. All the application logic on all the background threads is fine, and you can interact with it by pressing alt+f4,

dwm.exe: Problem with explorer.exe and dwm.exe in Windows 7 [closed]

I'm using Window 7 Ultimate. I get a problem with two processes, namely explorer.exe and sometimes dwm.exe.

The two processes tend to use cpu between 20-30%.

And it only occurs when i play some game on my PC. My PC works perfect until I play some game.

And another important observation:
They consume no cpu as such but only consumes when I try to refresh my desktop. I mean when I right-click on desktop. It takes seconds for refresh.

I have no virus problems.

dwm.exe: Dwm.exe memory leak when resizing simple WinForm application

I created very simple Winform application in VS2010 (just a standard template File->New->Project->C# Windows Forms Application).

After several form resizes the system memory consumption can increase by 1Gb or more! And this memory is not returned to the system after application closing. Selecting Classic theme or killing dwm.exe helps to get memory back.

Here is the simple video I recorded to show the problem: http://youtu.be/ZJMCayflrHI

What can I do to get rid of this lea

dwm.exe: Delphi 7 - Screenshot without capturing form - Windows 8 - DWM.exe

Friends,

Need to screenshot of the all desktop WITHOUT MY FORM and load in TImage.
Success in Windows XP, 7 - with just ALPHABLEND = TRUE + SCREENSHOT PROCEDURE.

But same code does not work in Windows 8 - capture all screen INCLUDING THE FORM.

I know the problem is related to AERO - DWM.EXE - success using pssuspend.exe (sysinternals) - suspending winlogon.exe and killing dwm.exe

Someone could tell me how to capture all desktop without my form also in Windows 8?

dwm.exe: VB6 Drag and Drop Performance in Windows 8

I have a rather large VB6 application that features dragging and dropping controls between sub forms in an MDI application. The problem is the performance is really bad during the drag operation. You can see the element redrawing (slowly) as you drag it.

I first encountered this issue in Windows 7 and after some research concluded that it was a compatibility issue with the Aero interface. I was able to work around it by switching off the Aero effects. Now I am using Windows 8 the problem

dwm.exe: Performance issue when resizing Win32 containing WPF

I am in the process of migrating an existing legacy project. For now we want to use C++/CLI as a bridge between business logic (native C++) and interface (WPF). I followed this MSDN article on how to host WPF content in a Win32 window as a starting point. However, I cannot wrap my head around this problem: Whenever I resize the host window...

There are serious delays and the window is repainting slowly.
It causes the Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) to increase dramatically in mem

services.exe: Hooking Protected Processes

I know that protected process are all about protection and entirely made for blocking me doing so, but I've got a problem.

My problem is as follows:

I'm building a security tool that should, between other stuff, block some services from being launched/stopped etc.

The way I've did so is to hooking 'services.exe' and detouring RStartService function. It worked perfectly on windows XP SP3.

But of course, It doesn't work on my windows 7 machine. I'm assuming the problem

iexplore.exe: Process.Start(“IExplore.exe”); <— Is this reliable?

Process.Start('IExplore.exe');

Does this always work, on every machine ? If not, how to do it properly ?

... EDIT: .................................

The problem with Process.Start('http://www.example.com/'); is that we have to target a local html file, with some querystring specifying which page to load in the html frameset.
So our URL looks like the following:

G:PathToHelpFolderindex.html#search?page=1.html

If you pass this path to Process.Start, an er

Is there some more elegant way than kill them all, hope that i end the right one and dont kill some other important java app? Thanks for any help I really stuck there.

logonui.exe: How to tell that the logon screen is currently displayed?

I am writing a service application that will run with local system credentials. I will need to know from my service if the Windows logon screen is displayed at any particular time. Is there any way to do this?

PS. The screens that can be brought up by locking the workstation:

Or by trying to switch the user:

Or after a Ctrl+Alt+Del:

PS. I need this to run on Windows XP and up.

EDIT: The only viable solution that I came up with so far is

w3wp.exe: Compute CPU % for w3wp.exe in powershell

I am developing a script which fetches CPU time for w3wp.exe i need to compute the actual CPU percentage used by the process and not CPU time, using get-process i get only the CPU time. Please let me know the computation steps for getting cpu percentage used just like how its displayed in task-bar using power-shell

Note: I dont want to use gwmi since script response is very slow. I want to use this app in a performance test enviornment and dont want to apply any load on processing.

php.exe: Start php.exe invisible with C#?

I want to start a php script with my local php.exe and don't want to see the cmd-window that appears when I do so.

This is my code:

System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory + @'php.exe', 'script.php');

What argument can I use to make the php.exe invisible?
I read something about a 'php-win.exe' but I have to do it with the normal php.exe and already tried some other methods (like hide.exe) but none of them would work.

system: System.ApplicationException: Cannot open file

I have an application that needs to open an excel file. However, when I run it, i get this error. I have already granted all permissions necessary to the file and the folders housing the file. Are there any other causes for this exception? My application is built on Visual Studio 2005 in VB and it is housed on a windows 2003 server. I've already tried refreshing the IIS as well.

Thanks!
