logonui.exe

How to tell that the logon screen is currently displayed?

I am writing a service application that will run with local system credentials. I will need to know from my service if the Windows logon screen is displayed at any particular time. Is there any way to do this?

PS. The screens that can be brought up by locking the workstation:

Or by trying to switch the user:

Or after a Ctrl+Alt+Del:

PS. I need this to run on Windows XP and up.

EDIT: The only viable solution that I came up with so far is to see if LogonUI.exe process is running. The issue with this approach is how to distinguish between the actual system logon process and any other process that has that image name?

logonui.exe: Perl script to gather WMI data on screensaver usage

I am very new to scripting/programming and WMI but I have been tasked with gathering information from a list of systems to see if the screensavers are active or not. I need to be able to then store the information to a file and have a cron job run every 10 minutes or so and append the results to said file.

There is noting in there as of yet to write to the file as I am stumped on just getting it to return the correct information in the first place.

Any pointers you guys can provi

logonui.exe: Changing other user's registry through batch files

Is it possible to change other user HKCU registry from other admin account?

My workflow is:

Install software on admin account.
Installation creates user 'CustomUser'
I need to set some registry keys for this user...

%windir%System32 unas.exe /profile /user:domain\%targetUser% logonui.exe

But this doesn't creates target key in HKEY_USERS

logonui.exe: LogonUI.exe process doesn't terminate after switching user

I am developing a Credential Provider (CP) that shows a dialog at logon or unlock screen of Windows Vista/7. That dialog terminates whenever the destructor of my Credential Provider is invoked. For basic scenarios like unlock or logon, that dialog is closed properly; however, I got into trouble with this scenario:

Lock computer: this will show my dialog
Click 'Other Credentials'
Click 'Switch User'

After step 3, a new dialog is created (a new logonUI process creates m

mysqld-nt.exe: mysqld-nt.exe exist in task list,but actually it's not running?

Have you ever step into this kind of problem?

I tried:

telnet localhost 3306

And it fails to connect.

I can see mysqld-nt.exe in the task manager(I'm using windows platform).

So I restarted the server,and it's ok.

This happens every day. Any ideas?

EDIT

Here is the error log(I didn't find anything abnormal though):

system: Need advice on creating an online contract generation system

First of all, be assured I am not asking how to write up a contract; I already have that covered. My question is how I can best program a system for generating it for clients to digitally sign?

My original plan that just seems like overkill to me is this:

I fill in all the details.
Click a button to preview it, making sure everything is correct.
Click a button to simultaneously create a directory for the client and create 3 files inside that directory.

java.exe: restart java.exe from an applet

I have an applet packaged with a third part dll (from JTwain). My applet scans documents from the TWAIN compatible default printer. The applet fails on a paper jam and won't recover. The user navigates away from the page and the applet is destroyed. When returning to the page it fails again. Closing the browser (which kills java.exe process on the pc), and then returning to the page clears the problem and everything works.

I want to restart everything without requiring users to close down

werfault.exe: Detecting process crash - C++ code

iexplore.exe: iexplore.exe process opens but I can't see it

I have a strange issue with opening IE (8), on Server 2008 R2, I execute the process (try to open a web-site in a browser) and I can see it in the Task Manager, but it's not visible on the Taskbar or anywhere on the desktop.
It is especially annoying since I use this server for developing a website.

It is the same if I open several IE processes, they are running (as seen in the taskbar) but are not visible.

After Restart of the server is usually works for a while till it starts

-system process-: Why is processing a sorted array faster than an unsorted array?

Here is a piece of C++ code that seems very peculiar. For some strange reason, sorting the data miraculously makes the code almost six times faster:

#include <iostream>

int main()
{
// Generate data
const unsigned arraySize = 32768;
int data[arraySize];

conhost.exe: Python on windows - conhost.exe CPU usage

I'm running a Python script on Windows, and I've noticed that even though the Python process takes ~8% CPU, the associated conhost.exe process takes ~14%.

Why is this so? How come such a large part of the CPU consumption is in the conhost and not in the Python process?
Is there a way to reduce this CPU consumption? (besides optimizing the code of course)
