mdnsresponder.exe: How does Windows know how to resolve mDNS queries?

When you install Bonjour for Windows you can resolve any '.local' mDNS name from anywhere in the system.

For example, you can 'ping some_computer.local' and mDNSResponder.exe (Bonjour/mDNS Daemon) will respond.

However, mDNS operates on port 5353 so how does Windows know how to resolve these DNS queries?

Is mDNSResponder.exe hooking into the Windows DNS Resolver somehow?

thunderbird.exe: Create Thunderbird email from Excel macro

I have written a VB macro in Excel which creates and sends an email using MS Outlook.

So I create an Outlook.Application, and then create an Outlook.Application.CreateItem(olMailItem).

This all works fantastically :) But now I have realized the machine I wanted to deploy it on does not have Outlook, and getting a licensed copy of Outlook is not an option. So how can I make this send an email through Thunderbird instead?

I can launch the application using this:

explorer.exe: Can't run explorer.exe properly [closed]

I play some older games that require ending the process explorer.exe. This is fine, except I want a way to start explorer.exe back up when I am done playing. I thought to use this:

^#e::
Run, explorer.exe
Return

The weird thing is that when I run this, it opens one window in the 'Libraries'. However, when I open the task manager and Start new process --> explorer.exe, then everything comes back (desktop, taskbar, all of it).

Why does autohotkey's run, ex

I am able to create a custom Windows Firewall rule with Chef and Powershell. I am having a problem with not_if.

I have used the Registry key methods from here:
http://docs.opscode.com/resource_registry_key.html

A custom firewall rule creates a registry key with a random GUID. I am not able to use the methods because I do not know the key name. The key value will be the same on each node, but not the key name.

The following works. But a custom key has a GUID for the ke
