NSIS: Failed to install using msiexec.exe

I try to install .msi file using msiexec.exe but it's not working although the $0 = 0 which indicates no error during the installation.

Here is my code:

To uninstall the same package, the below code is used.

msiexec /x sample.exec /qr


When we use /x it deletes all the files in the associated directory which is created. We want to retain all the contents in the directory. How is that possible?

I have developped a (Windows Service) application in C#, .Net 3.5 and altogether with it a setup project. My installer worked perfectly fine for the first time, I could install it on my machine and the application was running as it should. Then I uninstalled it for a while and now, when I had to rebuild my setup project again - no incode modifications -I am given a message at install time which says

I have an application with version no: 1.0.1, which is an upgrade to the older version 1.0.0.

When I try to install the new version 1.0.1, when my system already has the older version 1.0.0 installed, I am getting the error 2869.

But if I uninstall the older version manually & than try to install the newer version, then it installs successfuly.
It dawned on me that this error is due to some exception in custom action. And hence I executed the following command

Is there a way to change error messages given by MsiExec in WiX?
My goal is to customize the message that appears when users try to install a patch without having the target product installed.

Is there any way to detect process crash in windows 7 ? just to clarify upon every process crash windows creates the WERfault.exe ( windows error reporting) . i have driver that monitor the system by using the existing kernel callback mechanism of the kernel that notifies my

I am profiling a networking workload application on Windows XP. The VTune profiling result shows unusual high utilization on ntkrnlpa:FsRtlAreNamesEqual and ntkrnlpa:RtlUpcaseUnicodeString functions. From the module level, the workload spends 73% cpu time in ntkrnlpa.exe. In ntkrnlpa.exe module, 42% time is spent in FsRtlAreNamesEqual function and 36% time is spent in RtlUpcaseUnicodeString function.
Apparently these two functions are kernel functions, so they must be triggered by some system

I've little knowledge about DLLs. However

I was able to run a dll using rundll32.exe .

Now I want to run it as a windows service but it doesn't seem to start and gets timeout.

I am not sure how I could pass the parameters.

Trying something along the lines of ..

sc.exe create service binPath= 'c:windowssystem32 undll32.exe -test.dll -Main'

Trying the suggestions from
creating a service with sc.exe; how to pass in context parameters
but it doesnt seem to work.

Once the user enters this information, a PHP program reads the input and sends it to a Python program. This python program creates a user database and then returns the user's unique ID number. I wrote a batch script to make a backup of my Thunderbird client on Windows 7. It works perfectly, but I am having issues with the logging part.

Essentially, I would like it to see what is going on in the command window when it runs, as well as to log all output to a .log file.
