How can I automate the Tasklist command on my workstation to check a specific process on X n…

I'm trying to check what the status is on my XenApp servers for the spoolsv.exe process. I've got the command down to run individually from my XP workstation, but can't seem to get it to iterate through a text file. Here's what I have so far, what will make this populate Servers X-XX on my CMD screen?

@echo off

FOR /F 'usebackq' %%G IN ('C:Documents and SettingsuseridDesktopScriptsservers.txt') DO echo tasklist /S %%G /u domainuserid | find 'spoolsv.exe'

pause

I can't seem to get it to run correctly, and sometimes it will just pop up my servers.txt file in notepad and not even run. What am I missing?

spoolsv.exe: Calling fopen on Windows core files returns NULL pointer

I am trying to open a couple different files via their absolute path (determined elsewhere, programmatically), so I can get their SHA1 hash*, some of which are core windows files. fopen() is returning NULL on some (but not all) files when I attempt to open them as follows (normally the filename is gotten via QueryFullProcessImageName but I hardcoded it just in case):

char * filename = 'c:\windows\system32\spoolsv.exe';
FILE * currFileRead = fopen(filename, 'rb');
if (currFileRead ==

spoolsv.exe: How to check if service spoolsv.exe is responding to requests without printing?

My friend's server has some problem with spoolsv service. While he is searching for a problem source, we need to make periodic service checks and restart service if it stops responding. I suppose the source of a problem is faulty printer drivers, but that needs investigation.

The question is how to check if this service is ok without attempting to print something. How can we 'ping' it?

spoolsv.exe: Spooler memory increases when System.Printing.Printqueue object is created

I am using System.Printing library for printing, Whenever i used to create Printqueue object for Printer which is installed on print server, There is sudden increase in spoolsv.exe process and it doesn't get released. I have tried finding the solution but didn't succeeded, so any of you came across this issue, then help me out.
Thanks in advance

spoolsv.exe: Limiting an ATL exe server to one process (instance) only

I have an ATL exe server written with C++ (Visual Studio 2010, with merging the proxy-stud dll). The executable is compiled for Windows 7 x86 & x64. The following happens on both architectures:

The ATL exe server should function as a 'server process', that is - one process (MyATLServer.exe, ONLY one!) should exists per machine and many clients (let's keep it simple: on the same machine) are consuming COM objects from it. The server saves application state (in memory) and all clients s

spoolsv.exe: Squeezing more speed out of Windows print spooler

Our customer and I are trying to find a way to eliminate our printing bottleneck in a labeling system my company integrated at their warehouse.

The way our system is set up, a box scans, my software does this:

PrintDocument pd = new PrintDocument();
pd.PrinterSettings.PrinterName = PrinterName;
pd.PrintController = new StandardPrintController(); //Prevent print windows
pd.DefaultPageSettings.Landscape = false;
pd.DefaultPageSettings.Margins = new Margins(0, 25, 25, 0);<

wordpad.exe: What does {0} mean when found in a string in c#?

In a dictionary like this:

Dictionary<string, string> openWith = new Dictionary<string, string>();

openWith.Add('txt', 'notepad.exe');
openWith.Add('bmp', 'paint.exe');
openWith.Add('dib', 'paint.exe');
openWith.Add('rtf', 'wordpad.exe');

Console.WriteLine('For key = 'rtf', value = {0}.', openWith['rtf']);

The output is:

For Key = 'rtf' value = wordpad.exe

What does the {0} means?

Thank you.

winword.exe: Close Winword.exe in my application depending on dialog box information

I have a third party software that starts a word process.

I have no problem finding the process with:

GetProcessesByName('WINWORD')

When the process starts a dialog box appears with different kind of informations for the user depending on if the word doc has a active macro, is write protected etc.

My question is: How can I access the header infomation of the dialog box so I can perform different actions according to the informations provided in the dialog box head

monitor.exe: How do I monitor the status of an C# windows application?

Lets say I have a Windows application named app.exe, written in C# (Windows Forms), running unattended under any Windows OS (XP to 8).

I would like to monitor the status of the app:

Is the app still running or has it crashed
Has the app run into an internal error state

My idea is to set up a scheduled task in Windows (using the Task Scheduler) to run a Windows Console application, monitor.exe, every 15 minutes.
The monitor app will send an email with the status

outlook.exe: Running Outlook.EXE as Current User in VBScript

I'm asking this for a colleague, just to determine if it's possible.

He has a vbscript file that runs under the System account. Part of the script contains a call to open Outlook, as follows:

strCommand = WshShell.Run (Chr(34) & 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice14Outlook.exe' & chr(34))

This runs outlook as expected, but what he wants is for only that call to run under the logged in user's account.

is this possible?

Thanks
Martin

firefox.exe: Failed to connect to binary FirefoxBinary(C:Program Files (x86)Mozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe…

I am using FireFox 18 with Selenium 2.29.0.
While running test exception occurs

Failed to connect to binary FirefoxBinary(C:Program Files (x86)Mozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe) on port 7056; process output follows: null

It seems strange that this error seldom occurs. Let's say I have 20 tests in my id, the 'failed to connect' error occurs in 2 tests sometimes 3 and sometimes it doesn't occur.

Can't figure out why is it happening. If this is some how version problem or somethin

smss.exe: Can a wmic processes table (within the command prompt window) be sorted by a value?

I've been exploring various options, such as the /format flag, however it appears that sorting is only possible in XML or HTML output. I would like to sort within command prompt itself. It seems that even TaskList cannot do this (and I would prefer to use wmic since it seems to perform faster).

An example of a command to run would be wmic process get name,processid,workingsetsize. Processes appear to be sorted by processid, but it would make much more sense (in my use case, at least) to s

csrss.exe: Is it possible to get the “Image Path Name” of csrss.exe which is a SYSTEM process?

The windows system process (in Windows 7 for this example) 'csrss.exe' runs as a SYSTEM process and when I go to get (programmatically, of course) the process list with pid, command line, and image path name I get no values for command line or image path name because Windows won't let you grab that information for a SYSTEM process (I believe).

Is there a way I can grab image path name from a SYSTEM process? Does Windows actually prevent you from doing this? Is there a workaround?
