svchost.exe

Can I use svchost.exe to host my own services?

I can't find documentation for how to do it, which makes me think I'm not supposed to do it.

svchost.exe: Why is svchost.exe terminating my C# application?

For some reason, my C# application is being terminated by svchost.exe and I'm trying to understand why. It was terminating the application silently until I turned on Silent Process Exit logging using Gflags.exe from the Windows Debugging Tools. It happens infrequently on machines that I can't running debugging tools on (customer pcs).

The event doesn't really provide me with much info to go on. The termination code is 805306369=0x30000001, but I can't seem to find anything useful onlin

svchost.exe: Shared process service via svchost.exe in .NET

I've been looking into writing a service that runs under the context of a shared svchost.exe process, mainly for curiosity. I've found a couple of resources related to the subject, but nothing about .NET services. I know how to write standard Windows services, but is is possible to host a .NET windows service under svchost, and if so, how is it done?

svchost.exe: How to hide svchost.exe (dos prompt) when executing a scheduled task in Windows

I created a java program that will pop up a dialog, and scheduled it as a task. Everything works fine except when the scheduled java program runs and the dialog pops up, there is another window (svchost.exe) hanging behind the dialog box and doesn't go anywhere until the java program finishes its execution. The program is running in Windows XP.

How can I avoid that dos prompt?

Thanks

svchost.exe: Solving 100% cpu hang of svchost.exe hosting WCF service on IIS 6.0?

We're having a strange cpu issue with WCF services hosted on IIS 6.0 on Windows Server 2003 SP2 x64. On some of our environments, seemingly when an app pool starts up, the svchost.exe running iissvcs will spin up to 100% cpu and stay there indefinitely (3+ days observed).

Investigation tidbits:

It doesn't seem to be any specific app pool (we're hosting 5+ WCF
services in each their own app pool) nor happen every time.
The w3wp.exe process is started up, but using almost

svchost.exe: .Net Application extrem slow. After killing svchost.exe it runs again fast. Any idea?

I've a C# .Net 3.5 Application (x86) running on Windows7 x64.

For any reason after a few days or weeks the App runs extremly slow.

All other Apps runs normal (also another C# .Net 3.5 Application (x86)).

After killing a few svchost.exe the Application runs normal again. Rebooting without killing svchost.exe also doesn't help. Probably Windows saves the state of svchost.exe. If I logoff the user and login again it also works again, without killing the svchost. On logoff the s

svchost.exe: how can i use svchost.exe to host my own services?

I have written a service in C#. I kept the DLLs of my service in c:windowssystem32myservice.dll. I have done the necessary registry changes for hosting in svchost.exe, but my service is not being executed. It gets a 1053 error code.

The following is the registry entry for myservice. I created a key and have given the path of the myservice.dll file.

svchost.exe: Svchost: How to make it run only one module per instance of svchost.exe? How to get extended…

I have an issue with one of my applications. I run the application, everything is okay. When I close this application, I notice that one of the 'svchost' processes in the system takes up about 95-100% of the CPU and I have to figure out what is taking up so much of the CPU cycles.

I set myself pretty simple and straightforward goals on how to go about this:

Get the process info or this particular 'svchost' that is taking up so much CPU
I know what an svchost process is used

svchost.exe: ESET Firewall rules for svchost.exe and javaw.exe?

All firewall from ESET is good. You select the Interactive mode and you enjoy life. But here problem: custom rules are created only for specific executable files: firefox.exe, skype.exe, notepad++.exe. As a rule, one file is responsible for one application. More rare - several files are responsible for one application (Steam, for example). And with this firewall copes. But javaw.exe and svchost.exe can be responsible for several applications or services. How to create rules for specific services

svchost.exe: CreateProcess() and ShellExecute() freeze when waiting for svchost.exe

Under Windows 8 I'm starting an external program but it get stuck as a background process waiting for svchost.exe to return. If I start the same application manually (double click) it starts just fine.
If I run the same code under Windows 7, it works just fine.

I have mainly tried 3 ways of executing the application:

This returns ok but the application freeze waiting for svchost.exe.

monitor.exe: How do I monitor the status of an C# windows application?

Lets say I have a Windows application named app.exe, written in C# (Windows Forms), running unattended under any Windows OS (XP to 8).

I would like to monitor the status of the app:

Is the app still running or has it crashed
Has the app run into an internal error state

My idea is to set up a scheduled task in Windows (using the Task Scheduler) to run a Windows Console application, monitor.exe, every 15 minutes.
The monitor app will send an email with the status

So if I type smss into the search bar it will take me to http://www.winpatrol.com/db/pluscloud/smss.html

I tried in pure HTML with GET requests and can't find a way to do it. I was thinking maybe there is a Javascript way or something.

My task is now to extract this PNG file out of the binary file for displaying it or saving it as PNG. I wrote
