Is there a way I can detect when a certain third party application running on the system (e.g. thunderbird.exe) becomes the active?

Alternatively, out of all the processes running on the system, is it possible to get the name of the currently active proc

thunderbird.exe: Escaping commas in batch file START command?

My below .bat file creates an email to be sent by Mozilla Thunderbird email client. I can't get the commas in the subject= to show up. The cmd line interprets commas literally to mean the end of the subject part. How can I escape them?

I have tried double quotes around the commas.
Tried ^,
Tried ,
Tried ,
Tried ','

thunderbird.exe: Thunderbird compose email in a batch script - continue to next command

Using the following line in a batch script to call thunderbird and compose an email:

thunderbird.exe -compose 'to='email@domain.com',subject='Some Subject',preselectid='id1',body='Message Body',attachment='File.txt''

The command performs perfectly fine, however the batch script will not continue until the application terminates. Is there a way to bypass this so that the script will continue on with the next command?

thunderbird.exe: Piping current buffer as a string(!) to an external command

I have a problem piping the current buffer to an external command. Similar questions asked could not solve the problem.

I want to treat the content of the buffer as a string and simply pass it as an argument like this, where %s is the CONTENT of my file:

:!thunderbird.exe -compose body=%s

The usual way of using %w !{cmd} is not working here, because thunderbird doesn't read from STDIN, correct me if this assumption is wrong. (Piping buffer to external command in Vim)<

thunderbird.exe: Create Thunderbird email from Excel macro

I have written a VB macro in Excel which creates and sends an email using MS Outlook.

So I create an Outlook.Application, and then create an Outlook.Application.CreateItem(olMailItem).

This all works fantastically :) But now I have realized the machine I wanted to deploy it on does not have Outlook, and getting a licensed copy of Outlook is not an option. So how can I make this send an email through Thunderbird instead?

I can launch the application using this:

thunderbird.exe: Batch Script Logging and it runs double?

I wrote a batch script to make a backup of my Thunderbird client on Windows 7. It works perfectly, but I am having issues with the logging part.

Essentially, I would like it to see what is going on in the command window when it runs, as well as to log all output to a .log file.

The problem: It logs to a file, but runs without anything in the command window. Then after it completes, it runs AGAIN, but this time displays what's happening in the command window.

When I try to install the new version 1.0.1, when my system already has the older version 1.0.0 installed, I am getting the error 2869.

But if I uninstall the older version manually & than try to install the newer version, then it installs successfuly.
It dawned on me that this error is due to some exception in custom action. And hence I executed the following command

Is there any way to do this? Kill the task, flick something in the registry then remove it or via the Sc command? I notice that MsMpEng.exe doesn

ntkrnlpa.exe: VB.NET Program Locks Up with Internet Explorer Opened

I'm using Visual Studio 2008 and developing a VB.NET application.
I'm having strange lockup problems with my program, but only when Internet explorer 8 is opened.

When I cover my form with another window and then uncover it, I find that it has locked up.
My program has no references to IE and the only thing it even has to do with IE is using Process.Start with a web address.

My program works fine and exactly as it should, but only when IE is not opened.

regedit.exe: How does regedit.exe create empty binary values

I opened up regedit and made an empty binary value monitoring it using ProcessMonitor.exe. I set up a filter so that it included anything mentioning the registry path of the empty binary value's key and excluded everything else. When making a new binary value, it creates the unnamed one, then when I rename it to something else it deletes the unnamed one. However, it doesn't set anything with the new name, it just queries the value which returns an error until after I close the key in regedit the
